Summary:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for numerous specialized tasks including procedural maintenance of ISO/AS9100 quality documentation including FAA 14 CFR Part 21 compliance.
General responsibilities will vary within the assigned business unit with primary product support activities for customer flow down initiatives, problem resolution and assistance to production personnel.
Essential Functions:
The position is responsible for quality engineering and evaluation of manufacturing process to ensure they are performed correctly using appropriate tools, materials and processes.
The Quality Engineer will direct communication with Customers and various regulatory agencies. The QE will be the focal point for scheduling any on-site quality activities with customers.
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for maintaining a large amount of quality system data including operational performance, data and quality management system documents as needed.
The Quality Engineer should be able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with our key customers and regulatory focals.
The Quality Engineer must be able to clearly communicate requirements, formulate an approach and effectively work with all parties involved to reach a workable solution within the framework of the related regulatory requirements to achieve a common goal.
Additional responsibilities include managing product or manufacturing related issues regarding a product line item, AmSafe employee training, participation in continuous improvement events and other improvement programs.

Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a salaried, exempt from overtime, full-time position. Regularly work in excess of 40 hours per week.
Travel
Some travel should be expected for this position. A valid passport must be available or be able to be acquired.
Required Education and Experience
- BS in an engineering / technical discipline preferred
- Background in an FAA Part 21 environment
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a manufacturing quality engineering discipline.
- Experience in interpreting blueprints with application of assembly processes for electro-mechanical components and final assemblies.
- Greenbelt or lean certification preferred
