SUMMARY
Functions as part of the engineering management team while performing program management tasks. In coordination with the Engineering Managers, leads the team and drives the planning and scheduling efforts for both new product design and existing product redesign. Serves as the primary contact point, both internal and external, within a specified project for all aspects of design and implementation.
Performs complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products/ processes/techniques. Assesses applicability, feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests/products/equipment to assigned project. The position requires an ability to interpret, on a broad basis, the principles, theories, and concepts of an engineering specialty.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates project activities with other operating or engineering units to facilitate participation of appropriate staff in the completion of one or more projects.
Maintains and oversees accurate engineering cost and milestone tracking for one or more projects. Tracks scope changes and customer requirement changes.
Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard material, and drive the completion of tasks within the engineering team according milestones.
Provides regular “technical” progress updates to the Engineering & Program Manager either written or within a progress meeting.
Provides regular status reports of engineering progress to the customer. Participates in customer meetings, presents technical solutions, and provides technical expertise. Develops higher level customer relationships and is able to respond directly to customer questions on a regular basis.
Assists in the preparation of proposals, including review of specifications, terms & conditions, subcontractor selection, equipment selection and overall cost structure.
Reviews project-related documentation to ensure its accuracy.
Accepts responsibility for meeting overall project timing and budget. Is able to lead and hold the engineering team accountable for key milestones.
Participates in professional organizations to maintain current knowledge of technical innovations.
Assists in determining project objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design.

Work Environment
This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment

Position may require person to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours, constantly performing repetitive motions to use a personal computer and other office equipment, as well as walking around an office and industrial environments on a frequent basis. Industrial environments are subject to changes in noise, temperature, etc. Position is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the position may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees may be required to wear a mask covering the mouth and nose while interacting with others according company guidelines.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a salaried, exempt from overtime, full-time position. Regularly work in excess of 40 hours per week.
Workdays are Monday through Friday. Start times may vary; however, all engineering employees are expected to be present during “core” hours defined as; between 9 AM and 3:30 PM.
Travel
Domestic and international travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
Preferred Experience
- Working knowledge of aerospace and FAA requirements
- Subject matter expert in his or her field
