Helicopter Under-Slung Load Equipment

AmSafe provides critical equipment for the under-slung load carriage of cargo.

Helicopter Under-Slung Load Equipment (HUSLE) includes strops/pendants, multiple leg slings and cargo nets. Lifting strops and (reach) pendants, available in several configurations, allow:

  • Easier pick-up and delivery of supplies
  • Reduced need for pilots to hover directly over cargo
  • Increased working distance between ground crews and helicopter
  • Reduced risk of ground crews being struck by helicopter when connection is made with the load
  • Elimination of need for ground crews to stand on cargo to link the load to the helicopter SACRU/lifting hook
  • Ground crews can attach loads while aircraft is landed, board and fly on the same helicopter as slung equipment
  • Improved cargo pick-up and drop-off time

Multiple Leg Cargo Slings
Cargo slings are suited to the lifting of vehicles, containers or light gun systems, where hard lifting points are incorporated into the load. Used as the link between the helicopter cargo hook or strop/pendant hook and the load that is being lifted, each assembly is built of modular construction enabling ground crews to maintain and repair the equipment during operations maximizing servicability.

Under-Slung Cargo Nets
Cargo nets are used to transport stores, light vehicles, weapons systems and general equipment. Provided in a variety of sizes and constructed from high quality braids treated with abrasion resistant chemicals for durability and long life, safe working loads for these nets range from 1,360kg to 7,000kg. “Loading-position” markers are a standard feature.

Accessories available for use with HUSLE equipment include:

  • Quick Release Couplings
  • Extension Chains
  • Spreader Bars
  • Protection Pads
  • Pressure Sensitive Tape
  • Stowage Bags
