Job Summary:

The Quality Manager, as part of the Management Team at AmSafe Bridport provides detailed oversight of AmSafe Bridport’s quality system, guidance on quality matters, supervises training of employees, and instructs and manages other team members in support of the quality system.  The Quality Manager reports on quality trends, corrective actions and improvement activities related to the suite of commercial aerospace and defense products.

This position manages quality assurance personnel (up to 4 persons) and is the primary contact point for the FAA, external customer and third party audit organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and maintaining a quality system which ensures products are designed and manufactured to the appropriate quality standard meeting all internal, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct oversight responsibility to ensure compliance to specific FAA PMA and TSO CFR regulations. Serve as primary interface on all FAA matters.
  • Ensure the successful and long term improvement in the overall efficiency and productivity of AmSafe quality operations and processes.
  • Collection and discernment of product quality data in support of trend analysis, corrective action and general improvement activities.
  • Preparation and review of quality policies, procedures and working instruction in a comprehensive and cohesive manner to meet requisite quality standards.
  • Supervise personnel responsible for; receiving inspection, in-process inspection and final inspection of AmSafe Bridport products.
  • Management of Delegated Quality Personnel program, internal audits and supplier audit.  Maintenance of the approved suppliers list.
  • Membership and coordination of Material Review Board (MRB) process.
  • Management and control of calibration system for product inspection/measuring and test equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A) in a related major (manufacturing engineering or similar)
  • Six years of related experience or training; or ten years of equivalent combination of education and aerospace quality experience.
  • The candidate must be well versed and disciplined in quality processes / methodologies and have successful experience with developing and maintaining an AS9100.
  • Experience and working knowledge and comprehension of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations 14 CFR Part 21, subparts K and O of 14 CFR relating to PMA and TSO parts is preferred.
  • Proficient in the understanding of complex geometric dimensions and tolerances and have the ability to evaluate and interpret design data, manufacturing specifications and complex drawings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft based software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • ASQ certification is a plus.
  • Experience with enterprise/MRP systems is preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to analyze, read, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Must have ability to read / write reports and/or business correspondence, and procedural manuals.  Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to collect data, defines problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
