Job Summary:

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the timely planning and purchasing of materials for AmSafe Bridport products supporting established master production schedules and inventory strategies.  The Buyer/Planner seeks and established new supply sources for new and existing products.  Other responsibilities include supplier oversight and management to assure schedules, costs and quality objectives are achieved.

Essential Functions - Each applicant must be able to:

  • Maintain MRP data, identifying raw materials, component, sub-assembly and finished goods requirements for production and engineering.
  • Prepare (plans and schedule) purchase orders in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Support new product introduction planning and associated product obsolescence and change activities as related to materials management.  This includes participating in maintenance of BOM’s or other MRP system data as required.
  • Analyze inventory usage, scrap, shrinkage and coordinates appropriate corrective actions with suppliers.
  • Administration and update of supplier terms and conditions of purchase and some long-term supply agreements.
  • Key participant with legal support staff in preparation and negotiation of long-term supply agreements.
  • Participate in physical and cycle count programs.
  • Preparation of material cost reduction strategies and their implementation.
  • Administration of long-term supply agreements.

Highly Desired Attributes:

  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted purchasing practices, planning methodologies, contract negotiations and purchasing-related laws and regulations.
  • Thorough understanding and acceptance of business and personal ethics associated with the purchasing function.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

An individual must have strong computer skills, provide strong leadership, and be organized.  Prior aerospace experience is a plus.

Education and/or Experience: Minimum of 5 years in purchasing. CPIM and/or CPM a plus, 4-year degree a plus.

Language Skills: Must be literate in English with the ability to read and write.
