Taiwan Fylin Industrial found guilty of copyright infringement.

In January, the Taichung District Court of Taiwan provided a written decision which finds Taiwan Fylin Industrial Company Ltd. (TFI) guilty of intellectual property infringement (a criminal violation in Taiwan) involving the copyrighted works belonging to aviation cargo equipment companies AmSafe and Nordisk Aviation Products A.S. The conviction stemmed from TFI’s deliberate copying of certain technical documentation relating to both AmSafe and Nordisk products. These bootleg materials were then used by TFI in competing against AmSafe and Nordisk. As part of the criminal findings, TFI received a fine which was close to the maximum penalty permissible under the Taiwan Copyright Act.
